Crosstalk behavior of cores in multi-core fiber under bent condition

چکیده
Measurement results of bending diameter dependence of the crosstalk of each core in a multi-core fiber are presented. The crosstalk of cores shows different diameter dependence although the difference in core parameters is very small. The behavior is explained by taking into account the change of propagation constant caused by the fluctuation in the diameter and the refractive index of cores. The diameter dependence simulated with coupled-power theory shows the same tendency with the measured crosstalk.

Crosstalk analysis in homogeneous multi-core two-mode fiber under bent condition.
We analyze the inter-core crosstalk in homogeneous multi-core two-mode fibers (MC-TMFs) under bent condition by using the coupled-mode equations. In particular, we investigate the effects of the intra-core mode coupling on the inter-core crosstalk for two different types of MC-TMFs at various bending radii. The results show that the inter-core homo-mode crosstalk of LP(11) mode is dominant unde...
متن کاملCrosstalk behavior of multi-core fiber with structural parameter drift in longitudinal direction
An impact of longitudinal structural parameter drift on crosstalk behavior of multi-core fibers is investigated with a newly proposed semi-analytical method which can easily simulate crosstalk under the various kinds of parameter drifts. The simulation results indicate that the structural parameter drift has an important role in moderating bending diameter dependence of crosstalk of multi-core ...
متن کاملHeterogeneous multi-core fibers: proposal and design principle
A new type of optical fiber called heterogeneous multicore fiber (heterogeneous MCF) is proposed towards future large-capacity optical-transport networks and the design principle is described. In the heterogeneous MCF, not only identical but also non-identical cores, which are single-mode in isolation of each other, are arranged so that cross-talk between any pair of cores becomes sufficiently ...
متن کاملNovel multi-core fibers for mode division multiplexing: proposal and design principle
We propose a new type of optical fiber called homogeneous multi-core fiber (MCF) to drastically increase the transmission capacity of single fiber using the mode-division multiplexing. In this MCF, identical cores are closely arranged so that the cores are strongly coupled to each other to form coupled modes, each of which corresponds to a transmission channel. A novel mode multi/demultiplexer ...
